Hi all as you have read we are finishing off the reboot tidy up here - we want to tidy up the forums more many issues their so If you can feed back on reply on this blog what you dont like we will try to fix

This Website is great on Databases and so on but forum sucks but I can try to fix what we can on it

I found a couple spots... One, in the forum is the last post I made sent it to a mod to be reviewed to be posted, It's not been posted yet 6 or 7 hrs ago. Not a problem for me but when it said that, I hit preview to see how msg would look and it said something about captia violation and sent to mod for posting, I understand glitches, but I hope it wasn't lost, it was kind of informative I thought, lol

In forums Two, where do you view PM's and what you/or you sent said such PM?

I had sent a PM to Shadow, but the next day thought, "Did I say why, or just assume he knew why" but couldn't find that info.

Basically a control panel for everyone to make it easier to find what you did.

In the forums Three, I think Shadow sent me a msg back but I think he erased it, maybe , maybe not don't know. Second to that, just thought a setting to be default could be Anything replied or PM'd to would be sent to email addy provided on signup.

If it helps, I see the top of my browser flashing every now and again because of the chat thing, but it really isn't clear to a new person if it's just available and people are there, or someone is pinging you for some reason to chat. If the box -rose up- if someone was trying to contact a specific person I think it would eliminate some confusion, otherwise it just says chat, and how many people are there I guess, idk how it works. If you found a way to opt in a mic or build in a TS or Vent plugin to the forum, that'd be cool!

On the note of the TS and Vent as a matter of fact, I mentioned to a few people over the last couple years someone should try to make a mod that could crosstalk between the two if one person useing either app was on both ends, and whoever was in either channel or IP or whatever, could hear without actually having to download the other program.....I'd like 10% of whatever is made from this my idea, lol

Also if your fixing/editing a post, it asks for captia again.

Just blabbering a few thoughts like you asked.

@Major, Yeah I got your pm, sent 1 back but never got a reply On the main page on the left menu is the Messages box.. for me it just shows all conversations I had with people. (I never deleted any messages btw)

About the forum.. yeah I don't like the background of the posts as it matches the background of the site itself.. it should have a different look, like simply brown or dark grey.. but 1 standard colour that is different from the blackground so we can distinguish what the actual posts are!

Also.. when pressing enter, it skips a line and that is REALLY annoying, basically all posts on the forum look horrible unless you take the time and edit them to make them look right, while normal forums (e.g. xNULL, ModTheater) don't have this issue and it looks great there.

Also when you reply to someone, the reply sometimes goes above the actual message, which makes it very confusing for everyone to read.
EDIT: JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT NOW! My post is above that of Major_A lol.

It answered a few other questions I had.

OOOOH That's where the new msgs are and what you sent lol I'll have to get into going there first

unless the options get added to the user info tag above the msg's.

I almost never hit a home page after I find what I'm looking for, and I got that habit 2 ways

1 Modtheatre has support for other games so I always landed on the mohaa/spearhead section

and 2, Firefox gave me the ability to have about 40 tabs open at once before it starts acting goofy.

I keep finding stuff I want to go back to and just open another tab lol.

I'll repost the other post I made and see if it takes this time. I got in the habit of copying stuff in a txt file

for just in case reasons awhile back so I still have some of it somewhere.

I set the option for email if PM gets sent to user, and it made Shadows pm say he sent it, but is there an option for email for reply to post notification? I might have asked that already though.

EDIT:

I just tried the preview again and it gave the captia attack message again so I just reloaded and put the message in , answered the captia and clicked save and it did the admin thing again this time I copied it

Are you posting in Mods or forums ? or making a comment to an existing post

I hate the captcha but it stops a lot of our spam attacks but no good if its blocking users

@ Shadow made some changes see if any better and feed back

If it helps as well, I haven't received an email for updated posts in threads I've posted in.

as is evident by this reply today from your post on the 10th lol

Is there a check box someplace for that that I've missed?

Ok looked into this - basics are at present only option is to be notified of private PM message which is optional and is in your profile http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/user

This will not send you emails for reply posts...........

I can install a module to do this but needs a fair bit of work but all doable but will put a arge load on the server due to the number of members we have - I have asked a few other members and no one else are saying they want this.......

General response is when they vist they use the "New Posts" from the main menu or "Posts" button in their Profile http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/user to check for replys

So will see what other feed back I get but for now would rather not add this feature

just trying to get you to visit the site more lol

AH, I just figured it was a standard option that came with forum packages.

That's why I just assumed it was broken somehow lol

Just a thought but. a subscribe to thread/watch thread only as an option could be an alternative,

similar to TMT. This way if a topic gets updated it will only notify those who subscribed and not the

entire group that participated in the conversation.

That's cool if you implement it or not.

I didn't realized how much I relied on it in other forums lol

Ok I have now installed the above module to test - Its an opt in so no one is going to get spam mails - the link "Subscibe" will be seen near the bottom of the first thread or post

Give it a go - just going to test this post now as have subscibed to it

Ok Also if you goto your user profile http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/user you will now see a subscriptions menu option click on that and click on settings their you can change your prefered options

I have one problem I need to fix in that at present the site Cron job that sends the emails out is set to manually so I just need to fix that

EDIT thats fixed now it runs every hour so could take an hour to see an email

If you can test on a few posts so subcribe at the top although if you have done your settings in your profile for new posts you make as above to auto for your own posts that should also work

When checking emails check your spam / junk folders also it may get flagged on this not sure

@Major_A Major if we was on other website we have created we dont have this problems the problem is one of the creators of the website is away a very long time (Joto) until he comes again we have to fix this website :S
