"The Dungeon" by AccadaccA
G'day, thanks for trying my dungeon map for Medal Of Honor Allied Assault(MOHAA).
Description:
Set in a small castle at night, the map has a dungeon complete with several prison cells and shackles chained to the ceiling rafters. The long chains rattle as you climb up or down them. There's also a medieval rack as well as a couple of non-functioning items used for torture. Part of the dungeon is knee-deep in filthy sludge water (perhaps sewerage) with a sound effect of water constantly dripping just to add to the torture. lol
Some cells have escape routes which lead into the tunnel system. Although the openings are exposed the lighting and textures help them blend-in, so check the corners of the cell walls carefully.
The cell doors have an eerie creaking sound which is unique to this map and different to the other creaking sounds used for other doors throughout the castle. The custom sounds only work in Allied Assault and not the expansion packs for some reason.
Several different sound files were introduced to the game and used just for the theme of this map.
There are horse stables, a hay shed and corrals plus a destroyed stable-hand's house and a small vineyard.
Horses played a huge part in the war and I am yet to find another MOH map that pays tribute to them.
The custom sound effects and some textures are unique to this map.
Installation:
Place the PK3 file in the "main" directory of MOHAA.
Recommendations:
As this map has custom sounds you should use the default MOHAA exe and not shortcut links to either of the expansion packs. By using the "Spearhead" or "Breakthrough" links to access this map the custom sounds wont work.
Players: Being a small map it's perhaps best played with 8 or less Allied and 8 or less Axis although provisions have been made for many more if you prefer hectic battles.
History:
Credit to whoever made the torch flame. I'm sorry I can't remember which map or author I copied that from. This map was never meant to go public as I didn't think it was good enough.
Prior to today's release (some 8 to 10 years later) the map has only been played at LAN parties and on a private server between my family and close mates.
The earliest find of this dungeon map on all of my old (working) hard drives is 2008 although I think I may have created this map in 2006.
August, 2016 Updates:
I've just touched up a strobing texture face (floor of ruined house) and clipped some rubble (also in ruined house) so as not to get snagged.
Added a few more buildings, trees and treelines in blank spaces around the map parameters.
I've also added another 8 spawn points for each side. Grouped together for "Team Death Match". Where as the previous 16 spawn points are scattered around and better suited for "Free For All".
I hope you enjoy it.
