Project MOHAA Map database - as there are 100's of maps out their its har to sort them from the good,the bad and the ugly 
Idea is to set up a data base of maps with screen shots, name, type,size rating and reviews, comments and recommended as FFA or Team etc

Currently I'm collecting all the mohaa maps I can.. for several purposes.
And I would really like to contribute to this database, currently playing a lot to find out the 'coolest' maps that are out there.
Hi Shadow - I Will need to catch up with Joto - He has been busy on other projects but this was to be part of SCAPP.
Hi we have a big collection also and wanted to sift out the good the bad and the ugly hence after thinking out how we would do it Joto made a start on above.
In the mean time if it helps I have storage on the three dedi servers if you want to upload yours and grab ours - we did some basic folder sorting so far in preperatin but not fully sorted.............
That sounds like a good idea.
How did you sort them? And did you store different maps in each server? Cause that would be a bit annoying haha.
Very basic at present - just like maps we knew were obj or total conversion stuff like that - They are all on one server not checked them for a while TBH
hi, sorry except thinking about it every now and then I didn't done anything on this project, but its not forgotten.
ok - going to be a big project but think important so can we get it going together ? - if we start again on getting the maps hosted into ftp hosting to start that we all share and input into and then see if we can progress - Joto is your solution still option or should we try to build new solution ?
I can host but going to be big and we will need a backup off AAAA as well we have 3 servers but think in best interests we have external backups also )))
Well been thinking about this )) - would sooner have 20 maps on their that we have tested and reported on than 200 that we dont know anying about so we need to get it right and spend time on reviewing each map.........
Need Joto to say really - as I can do the import data easy - to create a Drupal database view which could be good will take me a lot of time but can be done just need to know that we find the best solution for every one that we all can support
Would be great if JoTo would have a beta version already, but I understand if he doesn't have the time yet ofc.
Though you're saying you want to add maps that have been reviewed only? Because it would be better if others can just place reviews (or send them in) about maps that we haven't reviewed yet but are in the database.
And I know .MAP made some nice reviews about several maps, which would be great to include as well, always nice to have some expert reviews in there.
And 2 or 3 people can make a backup of it on their pc, shouldn't be a problem I hope? Happy to have a backup as well.
Next to that I don't have much understanding of programming, but helping with the database (providing maps, info, reviews etc.) is surely no problem.
Well going back a good year I think here when me and Joto spoke about this and Joto came up with above which looks amazing.....
So yeh agree the maps could mass inputted and left open for review which is good but like to get it off to a good start with the ones we know so your input would be great.........

If Joto thinks he want get chance on this for a while ?? due to all the other stuff he is doing then I think I can get something going on Drupal....

Index list's - searches and all that sort of stuff the above is just a basic dump for one entry in the database.
We can add and change fields and stuff like - Just need to see what Joto thinks.............
I checked it out, it's a good base. And it could work. I placed a map on there myself to test it out.
In the maplist the map description is fully visible which makes the entire screen mess up, so this should not be shown in the list.
Also adding a rcon command option so people would know how to start them would be great.
And now it's just a (long) list of items, maybe if you put some info on the left and some on the right of the page, make it a bit more compact.
And an option of people to comment on the maps (give small reviews themselves?) would be great.
And the gametype could be expended with several more gametypes (deathmatch, liberation, freeze-tag, CTF, with bots..)
But I know you just did this quickly so I'm probably saying things you already thought about.

Hi yeh plenty to do on it - the display page is just a dump of the database record at present would need to create multiple views so full page view of one map then a view with lists of the maps you scroll through with thumnails stuff like that..............
The comments and star rating can be added also - so just need to see what Joto says on SCAPP version - If its going to be long way off then perhaps will look at what I can do to see if we can get it looking how we need it.
so for me this project would only make sense if the goal is an easy to use tool for the end-user, means one-click install of mods or maps *without* going through the hassle of download and extract and place files here and there and so on.
There is in my opinion no need for another web based map database as there are alleady many available,

Though those databases are simply horrible imo. And the 2nd one is in german, now I don't have too much trouble with reading it, but for most it's really annoying. And I just want to be able to see the top ratings / biggest to smallest files / gametype organized / most downloaded, a simple scrolldown list of maps instead of big pictures everytime (though if you could switch to both options would be great) and be able to type the name or part of the name so that I can find it quickly. And ofc. lots of info included as reviews, pictures but also map command.

Only couldn't get the BBCodes to work, and enters (open sentences in between) didn't seem to work for me either.

Have added to Main menu as MOHAA MAP's and had a bit of a tidy up on main Map node display...........
Need to work on some other stuff like the search not had chance but sortable fields now work......Oh and need to change the list links so they open in new window stuff like that...............
This also means I now know how to sort out the display's on the Match bookings also ))) another job for the list

Like the scrolldown list with the small pictures ! Would be nice to have a field with 'Title' as well, which would be a bit easier than the map name/command (for searching purposes, but both would be great as well).
And BBCodes still messing up for me.. or for example not working..
They seem to be working in the post above cause they're invisible lol, I meant Like this and this. Not working in the Add Map page.
Btw love the new layout as well for each map !

Fixed the file size that now shows on the main node page for each map.
Yes good idea will add a title for the list view.
Sort is all working not much to go on as we not got much content but we can sort on any field bar the image.
As for Search feature which should have been easy not so good the site search just gives crap from every where on the site trying to get a featured search to work but its a pain will get their.
Not looked at the BBcode yet as you said it will work in the comments and replys to a map node page but is not available in the field descriptions I will need to find out where its getting blocked / filtered.
As for the Main Node Page http://www.mohaaaa.co.uk/AAAAMOHAA/content/aaaa-mohaa-map-database-0 is to add the search when I work out how to filter it and perhaps some blocks like newest map loaded and stuff like that.............
I agree with what Joto Said but think we needed something more like this I just was not sure if I could do it TBH I am an admin not a web developer so its all a learning curve ))))

As for the existing list view that will stay as main initial view but also going to do bulk view which will be just map name and image so we should get like 50 per page maybe more for quick browsing - thats for me lol I can never remember the map names and am always digging around trying to find them )))
Down sides - I got Youtube embed working but had this issue before the whole page lags while it loads preview so will just stick with direct link for now

What I would need to do is create an easy method of allowing users on here to be able to upload screen shots and also central map data base store for downloads
