Re: map database obj maps
FireFox users Please note -: When using Firefox to download "PK3" file types you may find that it views them instead of downloading (This does not happen on Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) Please read this to change your browser settings -: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file to allow "PK3" files to be downloaded instead of viewed.

Re: map database obj maps

already set to save file for pk3 content ...tried always ask but still the same ...page of script.

Re: map database obj maps

double checked 3 other sites ....all download pk3 no problem .
looks like the problem is its a zip file ,just checked the file i downloaded in IE9 and its a zip.

Re: map database obj maps

Hi Dave yeh was a ware of this problem but seems firefox views a pk3 file as per above - but if your saying you can download PK3's via other sites on firefox will look into it further.

Re: map database obj maps

mmm The problem is Firefox is not doing this -: Adding download actions

On the web, find a link to a file matching the type you want to add.
Click on the file link to download it.
Select how you want Firefox to handle the file:
Open with: Saves the file to a temporary folder and opens it in the default application for that file type. To select an application, click Browse....
Do not choose Firefox to always open a certain file type, as doing so can cause a problem where Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows.
Save file: Saves the file to the download folder (specified in the Firefox General panel).
In the Opening file window, check mark Do this automatically for files like this from now on.

Its as if

Re: map database obj maps

hey Jon
if i right click and save link as ...
it downloads the pk3 ,so it may be the link is cocked up !!!

Re: map database obj maps

Ok strange one this - I tested on some sites and as you said PK3 downloads worked on Firefox but noticed those sites were presenting the links different an example file front it was not a direct download but using another server / service - I found two other sites where PK3 was viewing on firefox but working on all other Browsers..........

Anyway the basics are PK3 was having none of it on Firefox but all the other browsers were working and the links are fine on the database........

Firefox appears to have some sort of default rule on file types it does not know as a mime it trys to view first without asking......

I have now found a way to force mime types on the server side on Apache it now forces PK3 to act as a zip.............

The Links now work BUT !!! - If you have clicked on any already Firefox will remember what it did last time ie view but if you clear your Firefox browser history say by a hour or back to before you clicked the link it will now work ))) have tested and it worked for me.

Many Thanks for reporting Dave - got me to look deeper at this and find a work around server side Wink

Re: map database obj maps

ok thanks Jon ...will try that out ...
another little niggle (hehe)..
on the main page of database you get a download link for each map .
but if you do a search for maps ie: contains obj ,then you have to view each indvidual map to get to the download link.
anything can be done on that ???
