Enough!!!! Thats it

Oh God just had a massive bill on my rubbish broadband - Because my exchange is so old I cant get any decent broadband package - I can get cheap broadband from SKY and a likes but because my exchange is non LLU they get charged a lot by BT and they traffic throttle at peak times which means major lag - So I found a very good provider who dont traffic throttle but its limited download at peak times - so if I go over 30gb a month in peak times they charge £1 per GB as BT charge them but I dont get throttled so I get the best connection I can - 4mb ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh but when I was on SKY that would drop to under 1mb at peak times ie 19:00 - 00:00

So my bill for this months Broadband should have been -:

£25.52
for -:
Total Download Allowance 90GB
Peak Allowance (9am-midnight) 30GB
Off-Peak Allowance 60GB
Upload Allowance Unlimited

Here is my Bill -:

Over the time period 1/6/2012 to 27/6/2012 (26 days) you have downloaded 78.57 GB of peak time data.

You have exceeded your inclusive peak bandwidth allowance of 30GB for this month. Excess bandwidth used is charged at just GBP1.00/GB.

Based on your current level of usage, your projected bandwidth use (data download) for a 30 day time period will be: 83.79 GB.

If your current bandwidth usage continues then this would equate to an excess bandwidth charge of: £54 [£1.00/GB] for this month.

So we are looking at £79 for 4mb that dont include my phone and line rental !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you tell me to move well searched today their are not many that dont traffic throttle on a non LLU exchange and those that do all have charges as BT charge them so they limit your download.

Found an ISP called bethere https://www.bethere.co.uk/web/beportal/homepage fair usage policy but unlimited so I rang them - what did they say no thanks they didnt want me as my exchange was non LLU they said they cant cost it as BT charge them to much..........

So Rang BT to go direct as its their exchange as non LLU............. guess what they traffic throttle

An example of my 4mb broadband this weekend - 8 PC's and one xbox and 5 mobiles running !!

ME Master PC
ME AAAA server monitor and TeamSpeak PC
ME Mobile

Callum - PC and XBOX
Josh - PC and Mobile
Kyle - PC
Tyler freeloader age 5 uses anyones PC not being used guess what he asked Santa for
Jake PC and Mobile
Toby PC and Mobile
The Mrs PC

All the kids using some form of Teamspeak and SKYPE and online gaming

So from above last night when we played Ango all above was active and we had very little lag on a 4mb connection so pretty dam good when we were on SKY we couldnt even load a web page on one PC peak time

BUT for the love of god I am not paying these charges

So I have had to calculate how much booze and fags £80 will buy me and I have decided MOHAA must go and we are going offline in our house hold and I will run AAAAA from my mobile as its cheaper ............

I told the kids and they have asked to be put into care as they would have broadband and I have breeched their EU human rights and I should be treated as a war criminal..........I think they took it well

So had one idea that may work out cheaper but not sure on connection charges and would still only get 60gb peak time so we would still be 20gb over at peak but would have at least reduced the payment and got double the bandwidth over 2 phone lines -:

So I take out a second phone line £12.25

then another idnet £25 broadband

So its IDNET £50 for 2 broadbands 60 GB peak for a month

So Thats £50 + extra line rental of £12.25 is £62.25 then + the 20gb extra we used over the 60 GB = another £20

Is £82.25 yikes but thats what I got to pay anyway but at least with this setup I am getting 8mb over two lines so its a no brainer for me Wink

But my MRS says I must reduce cost back to the drawing board

Re: Enough!!!! Thats it

I am always surprised when I hear these horror prices. Sounds your getting melked for just some digi bits over there.

I pay monthly 25 Euros (first 2 years was 20 euros) for an package, which includes a 6000 dl / 800 ul kbit inet line (default would be 16.000, but my street has old wires) ofc with unlimited transfer rates, no throttling, lagfree ping among europe 30-100 ms. Whats more, 2 telephone lines with 10 numbers, free phoning flatrate included. 4 free mobile cards including free phoning among them. Free online cloud storage 15GB. A AVM Wlan router for 20 euros amd a free USB UMTS stick on signing contract.
Sounds ok price ?

Re: Enough!!!! Thats it

Yeh very good Joto - Seems the problem over here on old exchanges that have not been updated is that BT cant provide the capacity as they have not been updated and because they have not been released other suppliers cant install their own equipment so BT charge them through the roof so to be fair to my host its not their fault but they are getting ripped off by BT and then I get ripped off..........

Been checking loads of suppliers none so far can match my current host and not throttle some great deals but as soon as they see my exchange they either say no cant do or prices go through the roof and they traffic throttle...........

If my exchange had been updated then SKY TV would do phone broadband for like £15 unlimited - they can do this now for me but they traffic throttle on old exchanges (((
